Indian nationals between the ages of 18 and 30 are permitted to reside and work in the UK for up to two years on an ‘India Young Professionals Scheme visa. When to Apply

If you win the ballot, you must submit your visa application by the time specified in your invitation to apply. Typically, this happens 30 days after receiving the invitation. Within six months of submitting your visa application, you must visit the UK. For instance, if you submit your application on March 16, 2023, you must be in the UK no later than September 15, 2023.

You must present identification documentation and supporting documentation as part of your application. If you need to make an appointment to do this, you might need to allow extra time. If one is required, you'll learn about it when you start your application.

A decision on your visa is typically made within three weeks of your online application, identity verification, and submission of your supporting documents.


Payment Details

You will require:

  1. Pay the £259 application fee.

  2. Pay a £940 healthcare surcharge.

  3. Prove you have $2,530 in personal savings.

If your application is denied, your application fee will not be reimbursed. Before applying, make sure you are eligible.


Duration of your stay

A visa will be issued to you so you can stay and work in the UK for up to 24 months. While your visa is still valid, you are free to come and go from the UK whenever you wish. You may remain in the UK for the duration that your visa is valid, even if you turn 31 after issuing it.


What is permitted and prohibited

You are permitted to:

  1. Study - an Academic Technology Approval Scheme certificate is required for some courses.

  2. Do the majority of jobs.

  3. Start a firm as a sole owner as long as your office space is rented, your equipment is valued at no more than £5,000, and you do not employ anyone.


You are prohibited from:

  1. Extend your visit.

  2. Most benefits applications (public funds)

  3. Adding family members to your application. They must submit individual applications.

  4. Working as a professional athlete (for instance, as a coach).
